The thing I loved about Barbies when I was a kid was all the fashion! Way more than the dolls themselves. I had a few Barbies, but even more treasured by me was the box of clothes and shoes I had! Do they still sell lots of separate fashion sets for your Barbies?
(also i suspect that for my family, it was cheaper to buy clothes for Barbie instead of getting me new dolls which was a motivator behind me getting the clothes as presents vs getting new Barbies)
eta: also lmao because sisters gonna sister, my sister and I had REGULAR fights over which dresses our Barbies got to wear. I think more than once my mom solved the fight with 'NO ONE'S BARBIE IS GETTING TO WEAR THE SPARKLY PURPLE DRESS'.
We moved and just traveled a lot when we were kids so "do you have all the Barbie shoes?" Was the constant refrain with my family. My BIL says it now every time my sister and I talk about the film 🤣
But we definitely had significantly more clothes than dolls.
I had Barbies growing up - my mom made a lot of their clothes.
I somehow ended up with like a Barbie hair salon - it had a chair, dryer and wall panel with drawer (I think). May have been a hand-me-down from my older cousins.
I looooved Barbies. We didn't have a lot of money so I had way fewer than a lot of kids, but I loved them and my desire to make Barbie clothes was my very first introduction to sewing! Man, I coveted angel princess Barbie though...I never got her.
