reddit user @oceanhymn asked "Horror movies you just… don’t get?" and here are some of the answers, you can read the whole thing at the source.

- I sincerely disliked Terrifier. I don’t like using the term ‘mean-spirited’, but that movie is. It’s weird misogynistic torture porn from top to bottom.

- Lake Mungo. Not scary, couldn't invest in the ( Read more... )

The Exorcist. It’s boring and kinda funny. I understand why it would’ve been scary and innovative at the time though.

omg, that movie scared the shit out of me as a teenager. I remember having to walk my friend to the bathroom after, and we were in her house.

That was my group of friends...but with the Exorcism of Emily Rose. We also freaked out over Cabin Fever. One of my friends quit using tanning beds over being convinced she'd catch a flesh eating disease from one of them. Lol

Lmao, same. My parents used to buy this wine that had a devil in the label and after I watched the movie I was scared to look at the bottle.

The Witch is a very quiet movie but I don't know how anyone could watch that, especially with the sound, and think it's boring. Not to mention the tension reaching an absolute boiling point.

I got it but I didn't like The Descent and that one always surprises me with how popular it is.

I am the opposite on The Descent - I saw it randomly and was blown away but hardly anyone I know has heard of it lol. Maybe it's one of those ones that if it's hyped up first it's not the same

Oh wow. Yeah, for years I kept hearing about how it was the scariest movie and if I liked certain movies I would love The Descent. Same thing as As Above, So Below or whatever it's called. I was mostly bored.

I didn't care for The Witch either tbh, and good Lord that mother enraged me. Also like you know it's bad when even the religious folks are like "mmm yeah you're a bit too much for us, you're gonna have to go."

Speaking of Drag Me to Hell I didn't like the ending either. The character was selfish a bit, yeah, but I don't think she deserved the ending she got? IDK.

I went around saying "YOU CAN'T CURSE PEOPLE BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T PAY YOUR BILLS!"

I hated Drag Me To Hell, but I loved the ending

No, she deserved that ending for being a dumbass lmao. She put the button in a nondescript envelope and didn’t even bother to check it was the correct item when her soul is on the line? Unserious. Quarters and buttons don’t even feel the same lol.

I didn’t get all the Megan (M3GAN?) hype.

It was just Ok, but the memes were way better than the actual movie, which was kinda pedestrian with just a few flickers of proper dark humour

I've only seen half, and tbh... I'm kind of Team M3GAN.

Everyone hyping up Titane 2 years ago. I got the themes present and I think the last scenes were the most impactful but overall I was just meh about it. But I think the promo for it was a bit misleading.

Cause they are horror elements but it was more found family/coming of age-ish (in a way).
