We were 11 and we rented it and we stayed up all night because no one wanted to turn off the lights or go to sleep after it ended. We were terrified.

But he wouldn’t stop knocking and my helper syndrome got the best of me so I opened the door. I saw a 6 ft tall guy whimpering, in socks, holding his bleeding thumb. He asked me to call 911, said he knows that is a creepy situation and that he would even wait on the porch if that was more comfortable for me. I ended up letting him in and he told me that he’d been sleeping in a friend's garage when he suddenly woke up to someone choking him because they thought he’d stolen their motorcycle. He managed to fight him off but the guy started chasing him with a hammer so he just took off into the woods. Mind you, we live in the woods woods, there are no street lamps but plenty of bears and mountain lions. He said he made it to someone else's doorstep and thought if he just hung out there ( ... )

i think it's easy to feel this way if you didn't see it At The Time because back then it was truly revolutionary. kinda like idk my parents begged me to watch the Exorcist with them for yeaaaars because it was so terrifying yada yada so I finally did in like 2018 and I was like ".........okay...." bc horror had obv grown leaps and bounds since then

I feel like people kind of talk shit about this movie now, but I think the shot of Mike standing in the corner while Heather screams and the camera falls and everything goes silent is legitimately one of the creepiest things ever.

I went opening night with my aunt and uncle, we got there late in the ads, so we had to sit in the front row. That was a mistake, our necks hurt and we were so dizzy afterwards. It was such a fun experience though! I get a headache just thinking about it. I love found footage, but it can take me two days to watch it since they make me really dizzy.
