I can sort of understand it being so fucked up right at the beginning since OITNB really was one of the first ever streaming shows and people had no clue what the outcome would be. It's fucked nothing changed once it blew up though. And I'm sure Kevin S****y got a better deal for House of Cards. It's also crazy it's only been 10 years, it feels like decades.

The article says that some of the regulars got pay bumps but a lot of the cast were kept as recurring which kept their rates down. And even the mains are still fucked when it comes to residuals which are notoriously shitty with streamers.

they also inexplicably got rid of most of the recurring cast who were very popular with fans in the last seasons for no reason whatsoever. in hindsight, it must have been due to keeping the budgets as low as possible at the expense of actors.

Yeah, it blew up p much right away though. So after S1 then there should have been some changes.

Why were they treated like interns/volunteers?!?!! So exploitative especially how long filming lasts in a day

Yeah I've heard a lot of TV actors mention how poorly streaming residuals are compared to when they were on TV in the 90s/2000s.
