this weekend i want to finally watch polite society and maybe chevalier too. i can’t wait for this work week to be over so i can get home, order takeout, and just zen out with a movie.

It's really funny, it's structurally intriguing, and the cast is great. No one, aside from maybe Jason Schwartzman and Scarlett Johansson, gets a TON of screen time - it's a real ensemble piece. Tom Hanks fits so perfectly in his role, and I really hope we see him in more stuff like this. Jeffrey Wright is easily my favorite recent addition to the WA troupe. And while other WA films have resonated more for me emotionally, there is a short scene at the end that made me shed a couple of tears.
Overall, I really liked it, but it didn't hit the highs of The French Dispatch for me. And I know a lot of people don't like that one at all, where it is one of my faves. So I think Wes Anderson is just one of those filmmakers where everyone has their ( ... )

But I’ve been bitten by trailer hype too many times to work up much enthusiasm. The most I can muster is ‘let’s just wait and see’.
