That does sound exhausting tbh

One thing that bothers me in general is how words get confused and misused
Especially in those discussion
Male/female are not gender, they are not synonyms for man/woman

And especially in medical forms, that difference can be huge

The feminist movement has been fighting for it for years unsuccessfully, which is why it's even more confused now because some modern trans/nb dialogue also conflates them

Modern trans/nb discourse conflates woman/man and male/female because they are all social constructions that are not really binaries. There's a tendency to think of gender as "fake" and sex as "real" but that is not true or reflective of lives and experiences. There are many people who don't fit into binary sex categories either from birth, taking hrt, surgeries, etc. If we want to actually be specific in medical contexts and separate out gender from sex, we can't fall back on just another fake binary.

Its not an exclusive binary, but male and female people are two distinct sexes &acknowleding it should be part of he discourse without being called transphobic-- the issue of male vs female vs ambiguous vs intersex is a very separate discussion (though connected) to transphobia or gender conformity

I think some of this stuff (government forms) is because sex & gender started being used interchangably when they aren't.

We have a gender box on patient paperwork, but in the system you choose sex, not gender - however nonbinary is not an option for either.

couldn’t she just say it’s not her job to educate folks & leave it at that?

but lbr, folks expect you to educate them, especially when you live outside of a cishet norm. then following that is some level of berating for being different. demi hasn't gotten to the "educate your fucking selves" stage of life but i can't blame her being tired and acquiescing.

claiming your identity is a process and we can't discount the influence of external pressures.

i mean that's not gonna work outside the bubble of people who already get it, so no
