I get it. It sounds exhausting to constantly correct people, but I know the republican rags will run w/ this probably

they're already chopping up Demi's words to make it look like she said it was exhausting to actually use them.

Honestly that’s so depressing.

A few years ago when my enby teen told me they didn’t align with their assigned gender and wanted to switch to they/them pronouns I didn’t really get it tbh. But that was on me to figure out immediately which is exactly what I did, never making it my kids problem. Everyone should have that but sadly we live in a willfully ignorant society.

you sound like an awesome parent! in an ideal world, this would be the bare minimum, but we don't live there yet, and i know how my trans and enby friends have struggled with parental acceptance, so it rly makes such a huge difference how you handled that. hope your teen is doing as well as is possible as a teen! (aka only suffer from regular ol' teenagerdom without nb-phobic nonsense on top)

edit: for clarity, just ESL things lol

Exactly! I was thinking more about it after I typed it out and definitely had the thought that was the absolute bare minimum for me to have done at that point. It’s so heartbreaking when parents don’t even bother with that.

And I’m super happy to report that they’re definitely thriving in their enby selfhood💗✨

Really appreciate you, as someone who has been blocked by their mother twice for asking for they/them pronouns.
