there is indeed an adult coach who is just watching it all happen and is disgusted by them all and tried to burn them all alive in their cabin at the end of the season finale.

The coach lost his leg in the first episode. He helped them survive the summer but they started ignoring him after that

I think I'll enjoy this show more now that I've accepted it won't be as good as I thought it would be.

Is Van the only one of the adult Yellowjackets that we haven't had a "pre" crash flashback for?

How do you mean? We saw them all before the crash in season one.

I mean in the sense we've had ~individual~ flashbacks for most of the women. Taissa with her grandmother. Natalie and her dad/step-dad(??), Shauna/Jackie/Jeff, Misty being harassed on the phone, Lottie with her parents in the car etc. We haven't had one of those for Van?

I think the writers merit a little grace in that they had to rework things to accommodate JL's departure.

It's not like they just wrote themselves off a cliff ala LOST

I feel so bad for secretly thinking Juliette is the reason the writing has been bad this season, i'm glad someone else feels that way. People have been so hard on the writers, but she threw a public tantrum forcing them to stray from their initial plan to make her happy. That sucks. That must have been so difficult. They basically abandoned the entire Travis plot for her then people complain he wasn't in her crossing over airplane sequence. If i was him, i wouldn't have wanted to either honestly.

Well, I didn't see it coming.
[Spoiler (click to open)]I thought Callie was going to die saving Shauna or that Van would sacrifice herself because she's ill. I don't get what's Van's endgame.
And what are the adults gonna do next season? Adam's case is dubiously closed (I wish they had killed Kevyn's partner instead of Kevyn) and Travis' death is no longer a mystery. I guess Walter could cause trouble.
Jeff remains a sweet himbo, I appreciate that he was going to take the fall for Shauna.

Iirc, she wasn't supposed to survive past s1, but everyone was so taken with the character, they changed the script
