i didn't hate the finale! i actually felt like it wrapped everything up pretty well.

[Spoiler (click to open)]i was so worried either susie or midge was going to die during that last phone call and i'm very glad neither one did. though i said this in the what we're watching post, but it distracted me that midge's voice was exactly the same in the flash forward as it was when her character was 28. it seemed like alex borstein aged her voice pretty convincingly for that scene which made midge's voice extra distracting.

also it was cute that they brought imogene back at the end. i had read a rumor that the actress who plays her had retired from acting between seasons so i figured she was just gone for good.

though if they were going to bring the magician back it would have been nice to actually learn something about how his tour had gone etc. etc. his little cameo was a bit of a throwaway.

and it was so sad to see lenny bruce being a complete has-been but i did laugh when he said he only got the gig because they meant to book bruce lee

[Spoiler (click to open)] I was disappointed that Moishe wasn't at the show during her big break since the running gag was that he thought she could not tell a joke to save her life. He's never seen her really perform so I wanted to see his reaction

Oof. I liked it. It's so sad what happened to Lenny and how Midge never said bye to him. I guess bc she was scared to and is weak in that way?

I liked that it ended how it began: with her and Susie even though they're both alone aside from that.

My interpretation of Midge not going into the club was not fear but kindness. They all knew that Lenny's career was in the toilet and she didn't want to embarrass/humiliate him by showing up and letting him know that she knew just how badly things were going for him.

I felt like it was maybe a bit of both. She didn't want to humiliate him and didn't want to see him (her friend, her mentor in a way) diminished either

[Spoiler (click to open)]What’s with that Joel’s erasure in the future? Whatever happened to him?
You can’t redeem a guy for five seasons and then forget all about him in the end.
Why would they include four of her failed marriages in the story if they never came up again? I don’t think it was worth mentioning.
Overall I like the episode, but I wished it was a bit longer.
Also, Gordon was an ass to Midge, serves him right
Still hoped they would be together, actors are just too hot not to make a couple

[Spoiler (click to open)] I wanted to know about Joel too. he got out of jail and Midge admitted she was still in love with him yet we have no idea if they got together in the end

Rachel said in an interview that Joel was meant to be dead by the time of that final scene

I'm surprised [Spoiler (click to open)] the writers weren't more pissed at Midge going on the show. Gordon made a very good point about how a lot of them were talented and wanted their break also. The rule made sense in that if he let one person on his show he'd have to kinda let them all.

[Spoiler (click to open)]It's very likely they considered the fact that if she could get on so could they (they didn't hear her get fired)

I feel like this show veered too much into comedy, style, skits and witty jokes and not enough it into its characters, drama, feelings and emotions for me to truly love it like I love Gilmore Girls. Ultimately, Midge Maisel doesn’t feel like a real person, and nor did this show. It’s been a fun ride though.

I saw a clip of the whole family being concerned during the wedding of Midge's nanny about the nanny no longer working now that she'd be married. Interrupting the ceremony to ask if her marriage was her signal to quit! Fucking insane.

Ugh, the Palladinos always do this. Not sure if you watched Gilmore Girls but theres a scene where they disgustingly interrupt a funeral to be entitled. Also a Christening. I don't know why the need to push it into that insane territory

Yeah they have such cringey selfish behavior and pass it off as funny. It's that yiddish borsch(t) belt humor that tbh I hate. Like I don't find cruelty funny. It's very Gerrmanic and Yiddish humor, and I'm not a fan of that style. Much of American cruel (and crude) humor came from that.
