Seeing the responses to Depp's antics at Cannes this past week have been interesting. While there are still plenty of Depp fans, it feels like the average person is now starting to recoil in disgust.

I try to avoid Depp pics and news, so I'm out of the loop. What has the human shower scum been up to?

Crying during a 7 minute standing ovation for a movie with terrible reviews he is barely even in at Cannes.

The JEANNE DU BARRY standing O was 3 minutes. Then Maiwenn gave a speech and it ended. Not even half of 7 https://t.co/kQZuJMYShZ

Thinking about this court case makes me so sad.

The only good thing to come out of it is peoples true colours came out - blocked quite a few people I classed as friends. Can't be arsed with them.

I've caught people claiming they never supported him even though I know for a fact that they were chuckling at the tiktok memes this time last year. So bizarre. It genuinely felt like everyone lost their minds for a couple of months.

It honestly felt like a fever dream - all these previously self-confessed feminists/people who were yelling 'believe the abused!!! not the abuser' suddenly did a 180 because everyone else was.

It was very very well positioned to get feminists/liberals to support Depp because they needed to "prove" that they didn't just believe women in cases of domestic abuse.

But I still hate everyone who fell for it.

Thank you, Helen Mirren 👵👗🐦

But seriously, I hope they show how disgusting it was seeing people openly mock Amber, through social media but also on tv (I'm looking at you Drew Barrymore and SNL). That was some of the most vile shit I've seen in my life. Like the #MeToo movement didn't happen at all.

#MeToo had no meaningful gains and yet the backlash has been ENORMOUS

I’m laughing at the Helen Mirren part not the rest of your comment.

I agree I hope the series is factual and shows everyone how Amber got railroaded.

Interesting. Looking at her IMDB, she has directed a lot of Louis Theroux stuff. I've never seen anything of hers and the write-up makes me a little bit suspicious that it could be 'both sides' nonsense...but then again maybe there will be real empathy here. Too early to tell, I suppose.

That journalist that Depp fans sent to Virginia just put out his book and most reviews say that in an attempt to be "neutral" he favors Heard because... you know, she's telling the truth. So even "both sides" will likely still feel pro-Amber.

Yeah, Depp fans raised money to pay for Wallis’s plane ticket and hotel stay iirc.
