Thinking about this court case makes me so sad.

The only good thing to come out of it is peoples true colours came out - blocked quite a few people I classed as friends. Can't be arsed with them.

I've caught people claiming they never supported him even though I know for a fact that they were chuckling at the tiktok memes this time last year. So bizarre. It genuinely felt like everyone lost their minds for a couple of months.

It honestly felt like a fever dream - all these previously self-confessed feminists/people who were yelling 'believe the abused!!! not the abuser' suddenly did a 180 because everyone else was.

It was very very well positioned to get feminists/liberals to support Depp because they needed to "prove" that they didn't just believe women in cases of domestic abuse.

But I still hate everyone who fell for it.

Remember the brands memeing the case? SNL? Celebrities? It was completely crazy. It was like tirs been too long we had a proper witch trial and everybody wanted in on it.

Their social media manager who then claimed she is still very young and learning... At 24. I sent an angry email to them but I was too incensed to read the reply

I still use the app cus, faults and all, it is the free app that works best for my language learning needs but I'm much less likely to engage w their promo

Looking back it does seem like an odd kind of mass hysteria almost

i felt on edge for a while with people after the verdict, for example if someone wanted a film suggested to watch i was praying no one mentioned a depp film, bc then i would just know and i didn't want to think the people closest to me were on his side.

it was such a horrible time, such a horrible time.

It makes me nervous to see any Tiktok/YT video about the case popping up on my feeds. The fact that has team pushed so much bullshit to the point I couldn’t bear being on YT makes me anxious in the possibility they could do it again.

It's low hanging fruit at this point - it's why everything snowballed like it did during the case. It's equivalent of the dumb fuck kid in class laughing at a shit joke and everyone else laughing along to fit in.

Yes! I've been seeing new YT vids with jokes about it in completely unrelated topics. It's letting me know whose content not to bother with tho.

i've found myself recoil when watching a random reaction video to a fav show or movie (that involves neither person) and the person will casually throw in an amber "joke" or comment :/
