20 films that should have a prequel

While sequel creep has overtaken the modern movie landscape, it’s not like they are some new invention. They made six Thin Man movies between 1934 and 1947, after all. There is also the prequel, which has become more common but less ubiquitous ( Read more... )

Doesn't necessarily has to be a prequel (though there is enough potential for one) but I would welcome another Inception movie

I always found Mal interesting since she was never really a true character in the film (iirc, it's been years since I've watched). I'd be into watching something about her and Dom exploring that world and her getting lost in it.

Yeah I think this would be the obvious point for a prequel.

I'd be here for Black Panther, Benoit Blanc, and maybe Up. For Black Panther, it could be even before T'Chaka. Take it a few generations back and show us how vibranium was worked into Wakandans' daily life. Or even go further back and show us how Bast chose the first king but I don't think MCU would be capable of that.

tbh Up does more storytelling in one montage of their lives than most films, I don't think it needs a prequel. it's beautifully done.

Far be it for me to suggest Disney do more Star Wars stuff at present, and it's probably a book or comic, but I feel like the story of Leia's life between episode III and episode IV would be really interesting. I'd watch that movie.

Also if you could disassociate Depp in every way, I feel like a film about Jack Sparrow's young life would be interesting as someone who loved the original film and can't watch it anymore.

God I wanted disney to snap up Millie Bobby Brown for a young Leia movie so bad but now she's the same age Carrie was in ANH. She looks so much like Carrie and Nat Portman so she would've fit in perfectly with Kathleen Kennedy's brunette woman fixation.

Up had me in tears during that opening segment. Beautifully done and the best part of that film.

Up already has a prequel - the first ten minutes of the movie.

Also, ‘general consensus’ is redundant. Consensus literally means everyone generally agrees. And fuck off with the rest of Up being ‘whatever’. Who wrote this shit? I want a word. And so does their English teacher, probably.

The full list is kind of a mess...Billy Madison, Jaws, Waynes World, Cars, Rushmore, etc?! Most of it is a big no. Then again the source is totally one of those websites that clickbait you and that nobody has ever heard about before. Who Framed Roger Rabbit is an inspired take though.

Why would you need a prequel on Billy Madison???? Bizarre choice.
