My sisters boy is in the phase right now where he literally screams for over an hour without moving, no matter where they are, if a single drop of rain or ice cream hits his sweater or if my mum brings the wrong launch box to kindergarten.

I will stick to dogs 😅 that’s enough work

ive seen this happen with everyone i know who has a kid tbh. no amount of 'unconditional love' would make me want to deal with that. no thanks.

"My sister's boy"
After everything you said about him, I understand the need to distance yourself from your nephew.

my kid turned 2 a couple of weeks ago and she is hilarious. i love her. she can definitely be a total nightmare sometimes but i try to remember that:
1) she's going to be my only kid and in the grand scope of things she is going to be a tiny baby for such a little while, especially compared to the amount of time she while be a boring-ass adult so i have to enjoy these years, even in the tough moments; and
2) she didn't ask to be born. i woke up one day and decided to make a whole-ass human being and therefore it is my responsibility to make her feel safe and secure and happy for as long as i can.

She didn't ask to be born.

Wonderful. I hate that 97% of parents forget this and start making demands. I appreciate your entire attitude a lot for what it's worth.

God yeah. Or what I love is my perfectly able parents will break something in my house or their dog will shit on my carpet and they go “You know you caused damage to our house when you were younger!” When I was a literal child???

Yeah my dad will joke about what a terrible infant I was or how needy I was when I was when I was little and how I wanted attention. I chose to have colic when I was an infant? It's my fault for wanting my parents' attention when I was 2 or 3? ok.

I hate to give ScarJo any grace, but! Toddlers are legit insane. My sister has five kids, the youngest are twins and turned two in January and it’s like some switch was flipped in their tiny adorable bodies, taking them from cute little curious squishy boys to actual screaming soul sucking demonic entities.
I’m just babysit like once ever four months and I want to throw the whole babies away, I don’t know how people handle that shit for real

SAME. I always have to think of the kid that turns into a fire demon on the Incredibles

I agree, I think 3 is the worst age. Just evil, demonic little humans.

This is what I've heard. People say terrible twos but from actual parent friends I have, they say 3 is wayyyy worse

I love my nephew but during his tantrum phase he was insane lmao. It's communication usually that's the struggle. But now he's 4 and an absolute delight.
