And the vision she's awarded for - in case you are curious as well -

"Since Meghan and Prince Harry founded Archewell in 2020, its foundation arm has directed support and grants to numerous charities supporting women and girls, including Girls Inc., Paid Leave for All, Moms First, the National Women’s Law Center, and Smart Works, which was a patronage of Meghan’s while she served as a senior royal. They also provided support to the Georgetown University Law Center's Initiative on Gender Justice, which develops policy solutions for schools, hospitals, the juvenile justice system, and other public systems."

Seriously. These rich people making up awards for themselves to pat themselves on their backs for doing the bare minimum 🙄

For real. Mutual aid and basic rights and needs met > sketchy charities.

I have no words. I hope she is making actual change in communities that need it. And that they actually see and benefit from her “contributions “.

The only other thing I will say is how I hate how we need charities to recognize the bare minimum like paid leave.

The system is truly designed for most of us to fail (or stay right where we are)

To be honest, that is one of the tenets of American conservative thought. They think it's not the place of government to deal with these types of matters and that charities should be in charge of social benefits like welfare or disability benefits or housing assistance. That way, people can choose to support the causes they care about and if they don't want to support any of them, they shouldn't be forced to via tax dollars.

It's dumb and it's stupid and it doesn't work and about the only thing it actually is, is just evidence that America is not a "liberal" country.

it’s also just a way for the rich to get huge tax breaks which is really the main selling point for them

It's also great PR and great for their inflated egos.

Lamo just yesterday I read that their tax report showed her and the annoying one worked a total of ONE hour a week at their foundation. I just know their staff is seething rn.

But seeing her get awards will piss off the royalists and that's always great

Anyway, I'm glad the girl who bullied Matt Gaetz and raised $2million for abortion funds in trigger law states is being recognized. Now she actually put in the work instead of signing checks.

Their foundation has a staff, they aren't doing the day to day business of running it. The "one hour a day" thing was created by the British version of Fox News, it's not confirmed by anything.

When she was a working royal, the Palace wanted the proceeds from the Hubb Community Cookbook she worked on to go to the Palace, and then they would distribute them. She refused, and the proceeds went directly to the women at the Hubb Community. She would also go back one day a month to cook with them and keep involved with how they were doing.

The above user is partly right. That figure is substantiated in the Archewell tax filings, which as I understand it can be requested through the IRS Form 990 or something similar (I’m not American so unsure of the exact process). Usually these statements are made publicly available, but apparently the IRS has a backlog ( ... )

Ding, ding, ding. At my old nonprofit, one of my coworkers / friends was also on the board, and for tax reasons he also "worked" doing board stuff for about an hour a week. In reality he was doing shit for them all the time, it just overlapped with his general day-to-day shit.

getting plastic surgery once a month, having your nannies raise your kids while you cosplay as a parent on tiktok is not working.
