not coming for you personally, but for some reason it rubs me the wrong way when people find it confusing that a man involved with a conventionally attractive woman could still be/have the desire to be a predator. i can't quite articulate why, though.

Looks are such a commodity that we simultaneously know that good looks can't stop someone from being a predator or cheating yet often still blame their looks or body when their partner strays.

I know you weren't. :) It was more a statement that cheaters will cheat regardless of how you look. Also, there are some people in this community who think it's acceptable to get cheated on if you're not traditionally pretty/handsome, and that's fucked up as well.

I knew the Safdies would be connected to something like this eventually. They're talented filmmakers and I did enjoy Good Time and Uncut Gems, but their whole aura and vibe has been very reminiscent of that mid/late '90s NYC clique a la Larry Clark, Harmony Korine, Chloe Sevigny, etc. I'm glad Josh and Benny cut ties with SBM, but the article still doesn't make them look great.

I remember Sasha Lane saying she ignored Andrea Arnold's casting director trying to get her audition for American Honey because she thought she was recruiting her for porn and it was like a "Hahaha" story but JFC even these "legitimate" movies are predatory as hell.

Like yes, you really were recruited to be in a movie with Robert Pattinson and OMG it played at Cannes but you be treated like absolute dirt and sexually harassed with no recourse and your exploitation with the guy who sexually harassed you will be on film forever. :/
