I remember Sasha Lane saying she ignored Andrea Arnold's casting director trying to get her audition for American Honey because she thought she was recruiting her for porn and it was like a "Hahaha" story but JFC even these "legitimate" movies are predatory as hell.
Like yes, you really were recruited to be in a movie with Robert Pattinson and OMG it played at Cannes but you be treated like absolute dirt and sexually harassed with no recourse and your exploitation with the guy who sexually harassed you will be on film forever. :/
here’s a quote from the article talking about this:
The allegations raise serious questions about why a 17-year-old girl who had no agent at the time was filming nude scenes on the set of a movie. There’s no ironclad rule barring underage nudity, but there is a general Screen Actors Guild requirement that employment conditions not be “detrimental to the health, morals and safety of the minor.”
“It sounds like they circumvented the entire safety structure of our industry by hiring somebody on Instagram who was not a union member, who doesn’t know her rights,” says Anne Henry, co-founder of BizParentz, an advocacy group for child actors. “Normally, minors have to have their contracts court affirmed, and there’s lots of other hoops in order to cast a minor. This is so not normal. Everything is wrong about this situation.”
edit: OOPS nevermind saw that someone else posted it already 🫣 my bad!
Nothing. If he had been there, she would have said so. No one who's ever worked with him has had anything negative to say, in fact, the opposite.
He also has a history of working with more women directors than most actors and since 2011, he's demanded that his women co-stars receive the same salary as him. Mia Wasikowska and Holliday Granger have both made three films with him, which speaks to his being unproblematic.
Casting would have been done before they began filming, and that script changed a lot. They could have written a scene like that and then changed it to an abbreviated version in the film. She didn't need to be naked in any event.
Not discussing pay isn't a red flag, that usually happens with an agent anyway. The way he contacted her via IG is the giant red flag. Shades of James Franco.
yeah, that script was in development for *years*. i have one (that, to my knowledge, isn't publicly available) from as far back as 2012-13, which is why i know julia fox being js' "muse" is bullshit lol.

I think it’s a blessing that the scene was cut completely from the film. At least naked underage her isn’t out on film.
