That book made me a Michelle Zauner stan. I read it right before my mom and I stopped talking and it was just, ugh, all the feels! So good.

I will say that I'm surprised it's a not self-help/non-fiction book.

The last celeb book I remember reading was Ali Wong's Dear girls, which I loved.

yeah same, I was expecting self-help or an autobiography or something. her grandmother having survived the Bethnal makes me think Millie will take it very seriously, which this kind of story definitely needs

i have recently found out that ghostwriting fiction is a thing and it pissed me off beyond belief

It irritates me so much. Autobiographies are fine, it's still your memories and somebody's effectively putting them in order and tidying your grammar for you. But fiction? The whole fucking point is it's got to be your voice.

Ghostwriting has existed for the longest time, people like to think it's a celeb game but it's really not. I remember when I first wanted to get into publishing (pre the self publish age) you'd have these big publishers hire editors that basically rewrote novels due to coherency issues. Some editors only look at grammar/punctuation but some would basically rewrite the novel
