They really fucked up the casting. Ivy was so talented and well-suited for Marilyn that it felt like an out of body experience every single time they pushed Karen.
I’m not saying that Katherine McPhee doesn’t have a lovely voice but Megan Hilty was so clearly the superior Broadway lead that it never once worked.
I'll never stop being mad that they didn't let Jack sing more than that single line of Under Pressure. Also it's been way too long since I've seen/heard Will Chase.
Funny story. I had a legit Prince Eric moment thanks to him. Fell in love with his voice thanks to hearing Laura, Laura from High Fidelity. YEARS go by and watching Smash, after hearing On Lexington and 52nd Street I got obsessed with when YT would put the song up.
Eventually the thought occurred to me I hadn't been that obsessed with finding a song since - record screech - "Who sang Laura, Laura?!" Lo and behold lol

Too bad Laura Osnes is an antivax nut. Otherwise I would have loved to finally see her as Karen

Man, it's so unfair when amazingly talented people turn out to pieces of shit. Why can't you be a piece of shit AND an untalented hack?
