I sadly wouldn't be surprised. Victims often 'return' to their abusers side even after years trying to battle/escape them because the harassment they suffer when away is so strong that it becomes "safer" to be by their side. Knowing Brian and his violent stalking and harassment habits (without even adding the insanity of his fandom also helping this), I wouldn't be surprised if things had become even harder and he promised her things would get better and he would help her monetarily if she just stopped fighting him.
