i wouldn’t be upset with austin taking home best actor (though colin is my #1) but JUSTICE FOR TARON IN ROCKETMAN

god i so dont care about this austin fella, elvis sucks. if they wanted to award a musician biopic so bad they should have acquired taste and nominated taron edgerton for all the awards for rocketman. but as always they flopped so they didnt. colin deserves it, sucks he will lose it.

I saw a tweet that said Taron would have been nominated if Elton was dead lmao at first I laughed but then I was like now hold on…that does sound like academy voters

That's weird cause Sissy Spacek won for her portrayal of Loretta Lynn while she was still alive.

Estelle Parson as Blanche Barrow for Bonnie and Clyde (she shouldn't have won though)

Julia Roberts as Erin Brokovich.

Jason Robards as Ben Bradlee in All the President's Men.

All these people were alive when the actors won the Oscar!

I think that person was specifically referring to music biopics, though, so only your first example would apply.

I was going to suggest Reese Witherspoon for June Carter Cash/Walk the Line but I checked and June died in 2003 while Reese won in 2006.

gold derby published an editor interviewing his wife who is a SAG voter and it was so annoying bc she kept saying who she was gonna vote for and he was like 'oh but this is who is winning on my site why are you voting for Danielle Deadwyler she's in fourth place in our predictions!' and then the dude had the gall to title the article "a exasperating chat with my wife about her SAG ballot" (https://www.goldderby.com/article/2023/ray-richmond-sag-awards/)

anyways. i have my favorites, and some of them have a chance at winning but others do not (Barry will not win SAG ensemble over Abbott and that does make me sad but i mean. what am i gonna do complain? of course it'll go to Abbott, they're amazing)

The husband treating the whole thing like it's the super bowl. Does he not understand she's voting for her personal choice to win, not who she thinks has the best chance of victory.

it'll be interesting to see how the viewership numbers for this are since it'll be on YouTube (then next year on Netflix). if the SAG Awards can be successful on streaming perhaps the other award shows will consider streaming as well.

anyway i am making the same predictions as Variety.

Whenever people bring up ratings, i always point out how many people on social media are watching through illegal streams. SAG is smart to team up with youtube.
