I for one can’t wait to see how the Olsen stans are gonna defend Montgomery and criticize anyone who calls the show out for glorifying a killer.

It’s already happening, I’ve seen TikToks arguing that Candy was just defending herself and that she’s a good person helping people because she works as a psychologist now.

Not to be ~that person~, but I am much more interested in the life of Betty Gore. If you're going to dramatize this situation, following her perspective is much more riveting. Also, she didn't receive the justice she deserved since Candy got off.

Hoo, boy.

From what I understand, this is based on the (really well done) writeup by Texas Monthly. But it still just doesn't seem...necessary.

That said, I did watch the Hulu version, which was...a show that existed, I guess. Started off strong, then faltered halfway through and then just abruptly ended lol.

Texas Monthly's true crime stuff is top notch.

texas monthly has some great longform pieces and skip hollandsworth is among the best (bernie remains the only true crime movie i've ever liked) but reading them, i'm always torn. the vast majority of their work, especially the true crime articles which are always the best in the publication, are blindingly white. i don't want to perpetuate POC as criminals but like, we live here. if your only exposure to texas was through tm then you'd think the state is nowhere near as diverse as it is.

You're definitely not wrong. Texas Monthly has some of the best investigative journalism I've ever read. But for a state that is only 39% white, they sure do love focusing on just mostly white crime stories.

I like the cast but not into true crime content (unless its a documentary).
