Godland was festival-recced, but I think all showings are sold out. Only festival film up till now that impressed me was Burning Days. Tomorrow it's Convenience Story - hope it's a good ending of the week.

At home I watched Den Skyldige (fuuuuuck) and Duke of Burgundy (what?)

[Spoiler (click to open)]In the movie, one of the gay couple kills the other and at the end finds out that the world has been saved and is a better place because of him killing his husband, which comes off to some people as saying if you kill a gay man, the world is a better place as a result. And the movie has weird Christian undertones that come off as saying "The Christians are right, you saved the world by killing your husband, see?!". https://letterboxd.com/scottrenshaw/film/knock-at-the-cabin/ goes into details.

I see Skinamarink is on Shudder, so I'm probably going to watch that next.

I was planning on going to see Knock at the Cabin tonight, but cancelled after seeing several negative reactions because I hated Old, and I'm not trying to get burned again. Should probably go see Close while it's still in theaters, but idk if I feel like that tonight.

Will absolutely watch Who Invited Charlie when it ends up streaming somewhere, Pally cracks me up.

Recent watches have all been Independent Spirit Award nominees:

The Cathedral: This was... something! Dubbed "experimental", and while I would agree with that, it also felt amateur in a lot of ways. I appreciated what the filmmaker was trying to do - show us a unique take on an autobiographical story from a removed, dispassionate perspective - but the execution was lacking. I will say, the hair, clothes, toys, decor and commercials from the 80's and early 90's really brought me back to that time in a way few other period pieces do, because he had so many lingering shots where all you could do was focus on what was onscreen.

All That Breathes: Way too many close-up ( ... )

Seeing Knock at the Cabin tonight (and I need to know if there are post-credits scenes, but What's After the Credits and Reddit aren't helping!) and staying the fuck home for Friday & Saturday because it's gonna be 🥶🥶🥶🥶. I'm hoping the internet isn't lying to me and Saint Omer is streaming on the 7th so I can just watch at home. Maybe I'll finally finish Kindred this weekend.
