Marisa Abela swigs from a bottle of rosé as she and Jack O'Connell film Amy Winehouse biopic https://t.co/grCQC4krhm - Daily Mail U.K. (@DailyMailUK) January 31, 2023
Yall, can someone please tell me why they have Marisa drinking a bottle of wine when Amy never did that in the original pictures of her and Blake?! I thought Mitch said this was gonna be an authentic recreation of Amy's life, so why are they adding in scenes that never happened, especially a scene with her swigging out of a bottle?? This is a joke.
I vividly remember those pictures of Blake and Amy at the park because she looked so healthy & happy. There was no alcohol present in the photos. So fucked up to sensationalize her problems with alcohol, especially during a moment that sweet.
Right! I Googled the pics because I never recalled seeing her with a bottle. Unless the producers have pics from that day that we've never seen, they are doing exactly what Mitch hated about the documentary: Sensationalizing her problems.
I don't think the documentary Amy sensationalized her problems. I think it was a level & accurate portrait of her life. The beginning of the documentary was just sober, happy Amy, after all.
With artists like Amy, you can't remove the addiction from them. But there is a way to tell the truth and not allow the addiction to overshadow the life. Look at Kurt Cobain (Montage of Heck), for example. You can't ignore these issues - like Mitch would like to - just because they're uncomfortable.
But this biopic appears to absolutely be sensationalizing her alcohol problems by tacking it on to moments that didn't call for it OR even factually have it. It's like, "Hey guys! Remember Amy was an alcoholic!! So tortured!!! Biopic!!!!" It's gross.
