Mitch gave a statement to TMZ making it clear that he believes Marisa was the best choice for the role. Mitch stated, "Marisa’s a great choice for the role, even if she doesn’t look exactly like Amy. It’s no big deal if they aren’t mirror images". Mitch also pointed out that actor Eddie Marsan doesn't resemble him either.
But fans are outraged at the pictures that have come out so far as the filming of the biopic gets underway. Many have derided the pictures as inaccurate and sensationalist, fearing that this biopic will only serve to further exploit the singer's darkest moments, as certain scenes seemingly being depicted have been called out for having never happened.
