It’s because she’s from a storytelling family - it’s in her blood.
Now she’s tell stories through her music like Taylor.

Her career trajectory has been a surprise to me.

She had strong run after Almost Famous and How to Lose a Guy in 10 days but then did some meh films and her career become random???

I feel Nine is kinda underrated but yes I agree it's like she puts a quarter in the gumball machine and is like OK do that now.

she got pregnant right at her peak of fame at like 24 years old, right after How to Lose A Guy, and dipped out for a couple years. I think once she lost that momentum when she prob could've landed a lot of good roles, it was hard to get back in. I would've loved to see her in some more cute romcoms.

i mean she got an oscar nom so early in her career. she definitely should have been bigger but rested on pretty for the lack of better words. overall, bad management and poor choices. it's a shame cause i really liked her when she was starting out.

I remember when Almost Famous came out. Everyone was talking about how great it was. How great Kate was.
Then I watched it, and all I could think of was how awful her acting was. Cannot believe this was her breakout?

I watched it when it came out and i really liked it. If she hadn’t been in it/someone else had her role while she was in the background, I know I would’ve watched it more than once. Alas.

I thought the whole movie was mediocre, but that’s Cameron Crowe’s brand. But I can’t deny that his use of music in movies is so good. The only thing that saves Singles is the soundtrack and Kyra Sedwick’s hair.

and Kyra's hair is almost cancelled out by whatever horrific wig they found for Matt Dillon.
