I haven't read the books so I didn't know exactly how it would end and avoided spoilers as much as I could. Cried a lot.

I wish I could experience this ending for the first time again but also I don't because it ruined my entire adolescence and also possibly my life

I don't know what this would've done to me had I read it at a younger age, I'm glad I experienced it now in that regard.

I never read the books but now I am SO glad that younger me didn't read that ending. I'm pretty sure it would have crushed me.

I wish the whole castle in clouds was explored more and also the authority. Lol Lyra and will just found it in an ice cube. It felt rushed ( ... )

I like a lot these things you pointed out. I agree a little on some things. Although, sometimes I just take the series to book adaptations for face value, and don't hold high expectations for them anymore, so I forget to think of the flaws from the book's perspective; if that makes any sense. Plus I listened to these particular audio books years ago tbh. So as a result I was quite pleased lol.

That’s a valid point and I agree I’m like that for instance with anything LOTR related.
Idk maybe it’s because I read them for the first time as a kid and I have a more vivid imagination and for some reason I remember how I pictured things I had a certain idea of how it should look like which is totally unrealistic.
I will say the show did a really good job of explaining certain things that I missed when reading the books well maybe also because I was a kid lol

The last episode was the best, for me. A lot of the more fantasy aspects of the war and the conclusion didn't work- they felt really vague. But Mary's role as the "serpent" and Will and Lyra falling in love and then separating was really beautiful. The montage of them and the bench hurt.

I really liked the small change of making Mary's love interest a woman!

This was so freaking good! I am so pleased on all levels, honestly! I balled my eyes out at the end. Very close to the book afair. I'm sad it's over. And, I'll say it again, I really hope that there will be a series for the prequel, Book of Dust, as well as the sequel, The Secret Commonwealth, and the third book whenever he eventually finishes writing it. I just really love seeing books on the screen even if they are terrible at adapting them, idc.

PS, I listened to the audio books, all 5 so far, that's as good as reading it imo.

I'm going to watch the whole thing now, I think.

Do you think it's better to have read the books first or not? I read the first book ages ago but wasn't really into it, but I am willing to give it another chance.

The books are amazing. Really outstanding and even if the show wasn’t made I’d still recommend reading them
Especially the second book is a bit more standalone as the book in the show it was kind of a filler

The books are really good. I read them when I was like 12-14 and I was devastated lol, but they really are well written.

Also book Lee > TV Lee.
