It's a Sally Field movie. White woman marries brown man, they visit he country (Iran i think), him and his family hold her hostage and tell her she can't leave with their daughter. So op probably meant her family showed her the film as a warning not to go to India with him.

I almost started crying getting into an argument with people about the article that came out about him. Luckily I don't have those people in my life anymore, but it was enraging how even women felt that the woman should have left if she was uncomfortable and just wanted to have sex with a celebrity. Nuance is just lost on people.

I wish I could agree with the idea that experiencing it changes peoples perspectives, but I know women who have had sexual harassment/assault experiences, and immediately went to victim blaming. “Why didn’t SHE leave?” Not “why didn’t he stop?”. Eternally frustrating.
