I almost started crying getting into an argument with people about the article that came out about him. Luckily I don't have those people in my life anymore, but it was enraging how even women felt that the woman should have left if she was uncomfortable and just wanted to have sex with a celebrity. Nuance is just lost on people.

I wish I could agree with the idea that experiencing it changes peoples perspectives, but I know women who have had sexual harassment/assault experiences, and immediately went to victim blaming. “Why didn’t SHE leave?” Not “why didn’t he stop?”. Eternally frustrating.

Literally, I remember talking to my therapist when the article first came out and even though she admitted to having been in a similar position that, fortunately, she was able to safely leave she instead kept making it about the girl and why didn’t she just leave, etc. I was like “……ok”

Yeah I had an argument with some good (female) friends about it and they were saying it’s not a big deal, get over it, etc - felt so disorientating to hear that from people I trusted when I had such a visceral reaction to the article. Society is bleak
