If you're looking for another 80s anthem, Major Tom is probably one of the most famous one besides 99 Luftballons. It's one of my favorites.

Jumping to the late 90s, Echt was one of the first German "boybands" and super super popular. Their most famous song "Du trägst keine Liebe in dir" is considered a classic.

If you're more interested in rap, I'd recommend Peter Fox. He recently made a comeback but his last album released in 2008 is often named as one of the best pop/hiphop album in Germany.
