sourceafter the porn ban back in 2018 almost killed the platform tumblr now says that nudity, mature subject matters, and sexual themes are ok to post again. not explicit porn tho. so yay for boobs

I never used it for porn, but was affected by them basically cracking down on anything that seemed mildly LGBTQIA and tagging any content I posted with words like "lesbian" as adult or some shit. Like, did they stop viewing LGBTQIA people as inherently "adult" and needing censorship?

I happened to go to the wiki page about tumblr yesterday and I saw that they were sued for this exact thing. NY court of Human rights said that LGBTQ content was being flagged more for being adult which was wrong and they won the case. Tumblr is suppose to go back through all the posts that were flagged because of this. The decision was made this year.

i left tumblr in the mid-2010's because i was wasting too much time on it and i was in grad school and needed to "focus", so all the accounts i followed then don't post anymore. what are your favorite tumblrs? send them my way!

popculturediedin2009 is a good twitter account but is even better on tumblr. they don't post deep dives that often anymore but they do respond to asks or post about recent events. their posts about the depp/heard trial were very good on tumblr, and some of their deep dives are still up so it's worth going through the archives.
