As a four-year-old, I knew that Saddam Hussein was "a bad man from the news", but I don't think I went so far as to waste my crayons on him.

My first grade class was made to sing Lee Greenwood's God Bless the USA while our teacher recorded it on tape as part of a care package being sent to troops in the first Gulf War (yeah, I'm old af 😂).

So not only did I know there was a war, and that Saddam Hussein was a bad man, but I was forced to waste crayons on him because we made drawings and other nonsense for them to include in the package 😂

My condolences! I think the only jingoistic propaganda I've ever had to participate in as a child is the usual standing for national anthems and pledges of allegiances depending on the country I was in.
