If the news are on around the kids at times they probably picked up the name and is related to bad things happening in the world. At 5 I think a kid could put things together enough to say "I heard from the news that this Putin person is bad so he should be in jail".

I get that most parents love their kids and are proud of them but the parents who think their kids are some kind of geniuses in the making get on my nerves. Like, your kid eats their boogers and digs in their ass like all other kids do, get over yourself.
