I watched the first episode and was so supremely uncomfortable through the whole thing that I haven't bothered to watch the rest. Also I didn't know Ryan Murphy was involved until I saw the end credits of that first ep, and had an extra "oh... ew" moment just from that. He's a hack, and trotting the show out as 'true crime' when it's been so heavily fictionalised is pretty gross.

I feel bad that the victims' families have been retraumatised through this whole thing just for Netflix et al's gain.

Ryan Murphy wouldn't be Ryan Murphy if he wasn't exploiting someone or some demographic in order to pad his bank account. Im waiting for the skeletons in his closet to come busting out so someone can make some salacious tell all glamorizing what a creepy piece of shit he is so he can get a taste of his own medicine.

Granted, he's not the only offender, but he's the most high profile and has made a fortune off of American Crime Story, Feud, and now this.

"I watched it to see how bad it was!" if you really needed to watch torture porn, you could have pirated it.

Also fuck every single asshole making memes about this and a special fuck you to the serial killer groupies. I wish you all hell on earth.

In 1992, Rita gave an emotional victim impact statement during Dahmer's sentencing and was pulled away by court security.

That sounds cruel. Was there a good reason? I'll look it up, I'm just shocked by it.

Anyway, I agree with your statement at the end OP. I used to love reading about this stuff but I realized it was starting to mess with my mental health in a huge way (and I became interested in true crime-adjacent things, like industrial accidents and similar tragic incidents and that also started messing me up). I had to pull away from it.

She approached Dahmer and said she’d kill him, extremely justified for her but yeah, they were simply doing their job by pulling her away.

Oh, I don't blame her at all. I would have done the same.

I read the article she wrote and I'm pretty sure she also mentioned how nice and sympathetic the officers were to her too
