  • In news that certainly doesn't come as a surprise, Ryan Murphy's 'Dahmer' series has become Netflix's second most popular English-language series of all time.
  • In its third week, the series continued to top Netflix’s global Top 10 English TV List with another 205.33M hours viewed.
  • This takes it to 701.37M hours viewed in its first three weeks after racking up 196.2M hours watched in its first week and 299.84M hours viewed during its second week.
  • Family members of Dahmer's victims have condemned the series, saying they were not asked for their consent before the series was made, neither have profits from the series been donated to charities or victims .
  • Shirley Hughes, mother to Tony Hughes, who was an aspiring model, recently criticized the series, saying: "I don’t see how they can do that. I don’t see how they can use our names and put stuff out like that out there.” She told the Guardian the events in the series were not accurate to what really happened to Tony - "It didn't happen like that."
  • Rita Isbell, sister of Errol Lindsey, was equally upset with the series - "When I saw some of the show, it bothered me, especially when I saw myself." In 1992, Rita gave an emotional victim impact statement during Dahmer's sentencing and was pulled away by court security. "I was never contacted about the show," she told Seventeen . "I feel like Netflix should've asked if we mind or how we felt about making it. They didn't ask me anything. They just did it. But I'm not money hungry, and that's what this show is about, Netflix trying to get paid."

trying not to sound like i'm on my high horse or anything genuinely but true crime media was a mistake. people have become so comfortable and content to share how "unphased" they've become to violent true crime stories and how it doesn't affect them anymore. people are so willing to indulge themselves in series for entertainment. there are real people behind these stories. we've become void of genuine human sympathy/empathy. most don't care to know the victims, to only create memes, tiktoks about dahmer, the killers. family members are still alive reliving their trauma, their family member's trauma. why is your entertainment more important than their wellbeing, their pain?
