I thought about cutting my hair but since I'm a nobody it would be pointless.

Had the exact same thought haha it’s finally really long and I’d do it if it actually helped.

Lotta silence from the so-called “feminists” I know, but that’s unsurprising. Iran isn’t enough of a Popular Issue for the same morons that defended Johnny Depp to care :(

it’s not like the Imagine video at all to me. Iranian women have been cutting their hair, whether a lot or a little, for weeks now and posting it to social media. People are so quick to react and compare but the core of it means something. Or at least it does for me. Quite possibly there are Iranians who think it’s performance art versus a small stand of solidarity, and that’s valid. but there are also many Iranians who have asked for celebs to make these videos too to help bring more attention to what’s been happening.

I think the issue is that the framing of this act of solidarity- famous actresses cut off their hair!- implies that they too are performing some sort of pseudo-radical act to show that they want to somehow defy some societal expectation and use their bodies and their femininity in protest. Even if that defiance obviously pales in comparison to that of Iranian girls and women, the idea of women, who have to uphold this beauty ideal, brazenly chopping their hair holds some sort of visual and affective power… that image then draws that desired attention ( ... )

It was funny for like 30 seconds then yet another article ab a girl being raped and killed came across my twitter. This is shameful.

When you're an attention hog but a true grand gesture is too much for even your dramatic ass.

Lol at Penelope wetting her hair to cut some bangs!

The women of Iran are so courageous, though. We were able to get some photos and videos of the protests the first couple of days but very little since.

I'm so scared for those brave schoolgirls in particular.
