I'm not gonna pretend like she doesn't sound good, definitely better than Beanie, but there are probably 100 girls in the ny/nj area that would sound just as good if given the chance. People rushing to adulate her given her racism/general bad behavior just seems very pointed to me.

Yeah, they're acting like she's the last hope for the actors of her generation and it's like... Instead of casting Emma Watson and the likes, give 30-40 actresses big chances and you'll absolutely find plenty of women even more talented than Lea. With such low standard it's no wonder the Lea Micheles of the world stand out.

This has been one of my biggest peeves with musical theatre and film adaptation of musicals. They're casting on name brand not for talent.

Chicago was the last movie musical I actually liked and thought was well cast considering.

Everything else has been horrifically bad since. Actors that can't sing or dance. Actors that can barely act and also can't sing **cough Emma cough**.

Lea can sing, yes. But she is no Barbra or even close. So to be giving her these accolades is ridiculous. There is nothing special about her performance. There are loads of female stage actors that could out sing/perform her in a heartbeat but don't have whatever fame/star power Lea has (which I also don't understand because she's not that great in anything and she's a terrible person irl).

All the "Lea can't read" jokes just humanized her to people because it's such a light-hearted thing, so now they want her to succeed.

i think it's funny but i do think the illiteracy stuff walked a fine line between "i hate this bitch she is so stupid she can't even read illiterate people are stupid" vs "it's funny this horrible bitch somehow succeeded without knowing how to read look at her stare at this newspaper in confusion"

Thank you I thought I was going insane. Lea Michele has a great voice overall but she’s extremely pitchy here. She got so many standing ovations because she’s famous, it’s opening night and she has friends in the audience not necessarily because she was perfect
