Lorde had a concert in Washington DC last night and told the crowd she swam in the Potomac River. During an interlude in her set, she said, "I was thinking today, I was lying in the uh, Potomac River... I love getting to swim in water where I'm playing. It makes me feel like I know you a bit more, something like that. I was lying in this river

My local river is the LA River and like... not the part that they're trying to restore. The part that is encased in concrete. So... no.

Also I'm sure if I went to look, there wouldn't even be any water there right now because of the drought.

Strangely a LA youtuber I follow has been posting videos along the walking path beside the concrete sections, it looks so hot and bright. There are literally only two large puddles with some poor ducks.

Reminds of the tiktoks of people swimming in the Chicago River or the Hudson. I don’t think any river is safe to swim in if your near a major city lol

The number of people who feel safe getting into the Chicago lake and river. Couldn't be me. I've seen so many dogs poop and pee in the lake at Montrose Beach and everyone goes and swims in it after. NOPE!

Lake Michigan is actually one of the cleanest Great Lakes. It’s safe to swim in. Chicago river, no. Montrose is a a known dog beach so obviously dookie is going to be in the water. But a lot of beaches in Chicago are nice and beaches in Michigan are beautiful too. I’ve been to beaches in other places in the world and they were much more questionable than Lake Michigan
