A lot of people on this list have distinctive, memorable voices so I understand that but what happened to voice actors? It’s not like some of these people, no shade, are a huge name and a draw to the film

i opened this post to make a similar comment so im glad this is first. im sure the celebs are getting a bigger paycheck to do the voice work over actual voice actors, but when they arent huge name draws is it even worth it? i would understand more if it was one or two celebs being main character voices for marketing reasons but not basically the whole cast being celebs.

I get it though: projected bankability. I’m not discouraged, and I’m just going to keep at it. Some celebrities nail animation VO, and others definitely struggle and fall flat, so I’m always happy to see the ones that do get cast be gracious and not phone it in.

Awkwafina stays on "all my life I've had to fight" mode and keeps getting paid. I'm not mad at her.

Can't stand Awkwafina's voice omg. But that aside, I don't understand why Mulligan is involved. Does she have some sort of career as a voice actor that I don't know about? Like, it's such a random person. I get why some of these actors are there, like Richard E. Grant; really liked his voice in Robin Robin or the kid actors but -- her?.gif

she has a really soothing voice tbh but so do a lot of professional voice actors

I've never read the book, so I wonder what kinds of characters they'll be. For a while, Laika seemed a bit allergic to POC in their movies and voice acting (If you're going to name 2 solitary people across 5 movies - don't.), especially after voice-white-washing Kubo, so I'm glad they're maybe rectifying that because I do like them.
