Salem's Lot is going from April 2023 to a new unspecified date.

damn. I was looking forward to that one, just in the hopes that they actually did the vampire like the book. That's the reason I couldn't get into the first series adaptation.

What was off about the vampires?

Not about the vampires in general, but the main vampire (Barlow) is completely different.

In the book, he's an intelligent character, a more "Dracula" style vampire appearance aka a human with fangs. He's sadistic, manipulative, cruel. He talks.

In the 1970s series, they made him into a Nosferatu creature type who doesn't speak really except in growls/primal noises, and instead gave the sadistic, intelligent personality to his helper Straker.

There's a 2004 adaptation which stuck more to the book for Barlow, at least.

1979

2004

Arguably, the 1979 Barlow looks creepier... but one of the things I loved about the book is how cruel and intelligent he was. Making him a Nosferatu-style vampire changes that.

Excl: You may never see BATGIRL but some select people are this week, as WB holds what is being described as "funeral screenings" on the lot for the movie. In fact, there's one happening right now. https://t.co/e0hCAwBbd8

That’s actually kind of sad, all that work by the cast and crew thrown away for some fraudulent tax scheme.

This is in bad taste - not because of the movie itself but how people who worked or were still working on it were treated.

Ugh. Now I’m just more pissed off about the shelving of Batgirl. Total assholes.

Imagine thinking a House Party reboot was more viable for theaters or streaming than Batgirl. Was it cheaper? Probably. Will anybody care? Probably not.

interesting comment on all of this from a Hollywood Reporter writer

The moves underscore what a financial mess Warner Bros. Discovery is as the studio has only enough cash to release 2 movies from now to the end of this year (Don't Worry Darling and Black Adam). https://t.co/qZReE7BO6W

Are cinemas even open on Christmas day? I'm pretty sure they're not in the UK.

Really!? Is it not classed as a bank holiday or anything?

No. We've had christmas releases for decades now, they usually open at night since everyone is wrapped up by then.
