Isn’t Sparkle his ex? She’s spoken out against him right? This doesn’t make her sound good, unless I’m misunderstanding.

Oh is she the one in the tape? I’m having memories about this from the documentary, but it’s been a while since I watched it now.

:( I'm so sad and angry that she and so many other girls have dealt with that.

I hope she's doing better in her life.

I was thinking why wouldn't you pursue charges against someone that did that to your kid. But reading an adult's experience dealing with the court case against her abuser, I kinda get it.

She secretly recorded the ballet teacher who abused her and helped send him to prison.

But Katie Wee said she’s felt little justice:

Also, side note. I remember reading that R. Kelly's teachers suspected that he was being sexually abused. I wonder it was stopped and he got helped, he wouldn't have ruined so many girls/women's lives.

I know most don't but I just wonder if it was addressed or someone intervened if anything would have been different.

:( that's awful. Is it b/c it's hard to prove? Like even if you sign a waiver. You can't legally molest or assualt people.

From what I know, Sparkle did introduce them, but once she found out he was molesting her ,she told the parents and called the authorities. The family shunned her for a long time after that.

Ok, because from the write up (you know I didnt click the source, ONTD doesnt read and all that) it sounds like it was a grooming / recruiting effort by Sparkle but its not.

Fuck those parents though

Sorry, I was in a rush to post this morning before work so I very hurriedly copied/pasted and summarized from one source as quickly as possible (for the previous post, I spent a lot more time looking through several articles to find the most detailed version available).

Thank you for saying this because I was side eying the shit out of Sparkle. One of the most frustrating parts of all of this are the number of adults who deliberately put their children in harm's way for stardom.

That poor girl. It's not really surprising, but it's insane that so many people knew this was happening and it still took this long to prosecute him.

And once he got off it almost became a point of pride for him that he was untouchable because who would ever go after him again after getting off with a literal videotape, AND the whole pied piper thing where he basically openly got a pass to molest children because he was such a revered and talented singer that they should basically feel honoured he was interested in them (and that if the man is a “great” man like RK it’s not molestation, which was underpinned by it being because the dynamic was male/female and would never have gotten a pass by the same people if the only difference was the gender of the victims).

Boondocks s1-3 never missed and the R Kelly trial episode was no exception.

As someone who grew up in Chicago in the 80s and 90s-THIS. As a teenage girl in the 90s my friends and I knew to NEVER go to one of his haunts.
