sadly I feel like this is probably a very common story for models

Yeah I know it’s still rough now but I cannot imagine how fucked up it was back in the day.

yeah. thinking about how the late '90s/early '00s were Peak Outrageous Offensive Culture (which saw the rise of people like Marilyn Manson who never honestly tried to hide what a monster he was) and also remembering the early '00s nightmare that was America's Next Top Model? Like, I know that wasn't real modeling at all but the people involved in the show came from that industry and they acted like absolute sociopaths, pretty much ALL of them! and back in the day everyone loved people like Janice and on another show, Simon Cowell (who was always unnecessarily criticizing women's bodies and only women's bodies on what was a fucking singing show) so people go to be total dicks and got praised for it

not saying things are all Pollyanna now but man. Like, I am sure it was just common to push models past their professional limits and if you didn't go along with it you were just considered to be a problem child with an attitude

ANT trends twice a month when a clip of Tyra being awful goes viral and sometimes I wonder how much worse the shit Tyra has heard behind the scenes must have been, for her and the others to be like that on TV for everyone to see.

I just checked his wiki & imdb, and he has only one credit since 2013. So I personally would guess that he's working under a pseudonym. :/

I honestly can't even imagine what's like to work as a model. Granted women are objectified everywhere but with modeling is like folks think they have an actual pass to do so. I've worked with models a few times and literally every single time they seemed so grateful I was treating them as humans and not just a piece of meat. I think modeling is by far one of the most dehumanizing industries and it's particularly pervasive bc all the ~glamour and money completely blinds most people to it.

The link between child abuse and child abusers and them using abused kids as models is so disturbing too. Like in CSA, it’s not uncommon for the abuser to doll up the victim and take photos. So sick.

There were so many instances where Nolé Marin was outright groping the models on Canada's Next Top Model on the pretense of helping them fix their clothes. You can tell some of the models were really uncomfortable with it by how they immediately found some excuse to keep their arms in front of their chest or try to sidestep around him to not make their disdain too obvious in front of the camera and to keep their backside away from him.

It's tough when you have at least one or two models drinking the Kool Aid and brushing it off like it's completely fine to have strange men randomly come up to tug and yank on your clothes before you've even exchanged hellos. He'll distract how completely inappropriate it was was by starting chitchat while in the middle of needlessly fussing over their clothes or hair.

Kate was really treated poorly right from the start (her breakthrough was a magazine shoot where she was topless when she was 14), and Calvin Klein ads were just trash in general.
