Even Life of Pi - wasn't the VFX company that did it bankrupted because of that film? After they had just won an Oscar too

So, you're underpaid, overworked, your company is about to be blacklisted and go broke, and then this happens...

Taika & Tessa dragging the bad cgi in #ThorLoverAndThunder now I wonder how the fanboys will react to that pic.twitter.com/f752zSbk32

Honestly can’t believe how unprofessional this is to call out your own people that worked on the project like that. Cold blooded considering ya’ll were paid millions more to do much less.

This and the James Corden/Rebel Wilson Cats bit is just yet another demonstration of how much celebrities completely lack any modicum of self-awareness. It's one thing to mock the VFX of these movies when it is understood that the blame is on Disney/Marvel for the poor graphics and that the VFX artists themselves are doing the best with what they can, but here it's obvious that Taika and Tessa are mocking the artists, not the studio.

That was really terrible. And the casual cruelty makes it worst.

I hope we don’t let this drop. Thought it would after the initial reports came from Reddit. Glad a bigger outlet is picking it up.

God I may not like my current job but I am SO glad I'm not a VFX artist anymore. Like imagine sitting on a computer all day 14+ hours straight ruining your health and posture to the point where your hands are shaking and then not getting even a thanks or acknowledgement. I think one of the worst experiences of my life was working from 10 AM to 7 AM the next day.

It's a shame because I think it's a job that CAN be rewarding. With the animation programs available you literally have the power to create entire virtual worlds and bring characters to life in a way that can be so awesome and mind-blowing. Like I've looked at past projects I've done and been like "damn, I did that!" But exploitation of the workers and a lack of acknowledgement for our hard work just makes it a bitter experience instead.

And it's not just a Disney problem either sadly. VFX/Animation artists everywhere are overworked and exploited.

Yep. My friend worked as a vfx artist on some of the biggest blockbusters. She realized that her life was passing her by and that she had become gray from overworking. She quit, moved from LA and started working in a kindergarten and never looked back.

I believe every word. Marvel just seems to have become over-reliant on CGI as well. All of the new Thor sets seemed to be CGI. Was there a single location shoot?

I believe even the location shoots had tons of CGI in them (they went to Iceland).
