I did, and the things Joan did to her are even worse in the book than the movie. That bit about Joan completely cutting her off from her will after she made peace with each other as an adult was horrible.
i have read the secret history twice now & the first time i liked it but then that was yrs ago & didn't remember anything from it around my second reread & i did not like it at all the second time around. i would give it a try if you rly want to but just know it's very long drawn out & is very pretentious & takes itself way too seriously.
Back when people were less apt to keep tabs on members saying certain things and bringing it up in unrelated posts/trying to find out where people worked so they could "share" said posts with the OPs boss and get them fired/using the information as a way to doxx users (wtf @ certain people here) we used to have "Secrets" posts that were generally about the PostSecret project but became free-for-alls for people to confess all sorts of shit. The first post was wild as hell and amongst all the shit being released someone admitted that they've been fucking their cousin for years and had no plans to stop. The fact that this was one of the tamer confessions in that post was even wilder.
I only vaguely remember the cousin stuff, but the one about the kitten stuck with me and I am pretty sure got brought up with a user in every post they commented in.
I know it's a cliché, but I loved The Secret History when I read it years ago. It kick started my love of dark academia books and I have read a number of similar books, but never liked them as much. Although oddly, I think it's the only Donna Tartt novel I have read.
