yeah... probably a smart move. even if everything goes in JD's favor he's still not gonna walk away looking completely rosy, or at least it will be only Johnny Depp himself and all anyone will remember about Paul Bettany is the drugs and the violent texts. no-win for him unless he REALLY wants to go to bat for his friend, which he clearly doesn't think is worth it ruh roh

It's so fucked up that ultimately, Depp's career will not be killed off by the MOUNTAINS of evidence that he was a vicious emotional abuser, or by the flippant responses and outright lies to questions about his drug and alcohol abuse showing how completely in denial he is about the severity of his addiction issues.

No, his career will be dead because of all the bad press his famous friends are getting for being the recipients of all his violent, unhinged texts.

But that's Hollyweird for you. Abusive drug addicts we can forgive. Bring us bad press? You'll never work in this town again.

I literally had someone I used to respect excuse that text as "the kind of joke every Boomer makes about his wife." What the fuck? My dad is the ultimate dumb Boomer, and the meanest thing he's ever said about my mom is the stupid ball and chain bit. I cannot fathom any non-abusive man "joking" about the things he said in that text.
