Are you an impulse buyer, ONTD? soul_amazinn April 9 2022, 13:34:38 UTC
Yes. That’s why I’m in cc debt 🥹

And then I immediately regret everything I buy

I regularly forget I have a credit card, but luckily don't live somewhere it's essential to have one.

I would be pissed. It's one thing if the house is in the same area but another to buy a house in an entirely different state that would require a huge move.

Same. This isn’t the cute anecdote they think it is. Couples should be making large financial and life decisions together.

So true! How long are they going to last if he keeps splurging?

They're rich tho so it honestly doesn't matter. It can be a vacation home or rental or something.

Yeah, if my husband did that I would freak the fuck out, but I think the equivalent for us would be something like "I got us tickets to see this weird movie we don't know anything about"

I guess if you have a lot of money you can do this LOL

but it would drive me crazy if my spouse just kept buying really expensive things without talking to me first. Impulsive shopping can be an indicator of a problem.

It's cute to her until they're divorcing.

I legit had a friend who bought a house without getting her (now ex) husband's consent first. She felt she couldn't live without it and it would be a solid financial investment for their future. They divorced three years after this because of constant fighting. My friend is bipolar and has a shopping addiction. The stuff she buys spur of the moment is insane and she has nearly gone bankrupt in the past; it's at the point her family refuses to help her financially as well because they know she will waste it. It's sad to watch but unless someone wants to help themselves, it's a wasted effort. I keep wondering what her rock bottom is.

If he used shared funds to buy that house, I would absolutely be livid if I were her. If he didn’t, this is her clue to not share any assets with him. As in putting his name on anything. My worst impulse buys are usually a new purse or 3 bags of candy for 9$ at walmart or something. And the purse impulse buy happens at most once a year or two years. And the most expensive purse I own is a kate spade
