Are you an impulse buyer, ONTD? soul_amazinn April 9 2022, 13:34:38 UTC
Yes. That’s why I’m in cc debt 🥹

And then I immediately regret everything I buy

I regularly forget I have a credit card, but luckily don't live somewhere it's essential to have one.

my growing up in poverty complex overrides my ADHD a lot so I'm not that bad but occasionally it gets out of control

I grew up in poverty, too, but my goddamn depression and adhd team up to destroy me 😭 it doesn’t help that I’m basically still living in poverty so even $50 fucks up my entire month, yet I still have to buy $100 worth of skirts 😑

Yeah but not when it comes to houses. LMAO

When it comes to being an impulse buyer, that shit only applies to food and books. Like, snacks or books on sale for a short period of time. LOL

My problem is I go on random splurging sprees. Like I can go months without spending a crazy amount at one time but on a rare occasion I get the urge to splurge on random shit. At a certain point I’m just like “well I’m already spending money today so Idc anymore at this point” lol. Thankfully I never get TOO crazy but still.

Same. I recently realized this is common in people with untreated ADHD. That little hit of dopamine. Oof.

At the start of lockdown I got way too into buying stuff (mostly secondhand books on Ebay so not too expensive but still...). For a while I was able to use ordering free covid tests (I live in the UK) to get a bit of that dopamine, because even though it wasn't exciting I was still ordering something and getting a package delivered (and it was useful!) but now the government has stopped the free tests.

Not for big things. I get stressed about buying big things.

But for small things? I only bought one of these and I'm really proud of myself because a few years ago I would've bought five.
