The main narrative of 300 is a skewed, propagandist tale told to inspire a small army heading into a suicide mission.

I feel like a lot of people missed the point of it and try to view it through today's world views/politics when it's ultimately not that deep.

i actually watched 300 for the first time recently because of the insider video on ancient warfare in movies - wow! i really did not like 300! at all!

although it was interesting to see what 'comic book movies' looked like before comic book movies ruled the universe. the heavy stylisation was very fucking annoying to watch.

It is wasn't all that, I've seen both versions and it was mild af. More than typical but a lot less than the OP implies.

Don't oversell it. It was a lot by mainstream Hollywood movie standards but not even close to a standard PG level Hollywood hetero love scene.
