20 years ago, this week, I walked through that door. I will never get over this moment! Thank you @TheAcademy, @Lionsgate, @leedanielsent and Marc Forster. ❤️ pic.twitter.com/ID6dTamnQ1

Lupita should’ve 100% been nominated for Us, definitely should’ve gotten in over Charlize Theron who got a throwaway nom for Bombshell that year. I thought Dominique Fishback was wonderful in Judas and the Black Messiah, Tiffany Haddish for Girls Trip (remember that Melissa McCarthy got a nom for Bridesmaids!). Regina Hall for Support the Girls and Carmen Ejogo for Selma.

It's absolutely atrocious that only 6 other black actresses have been nominated since then, and that hers remains the only win. Granted the Oscars are a very white, American-English centric award but it's really fucking horrid that there seems to be no real movement to change it.

Also, I was rooting for Andra last year, she was phenomenal as Billie Holiday.

She's not just the only black woman to win but the only WOC to ever win.

Oh man, I loved Support the Girls.
A pity it never got the recognition it deserved but I'm so glad it got made to begin with.

Fun fact, Regina was on The View this past week where she stated she has never attended the Oscars in all her years in Hollywood. She's going for the first time this year as a host.

Viola Davis winning for Fences, she should've won every time she got nominated for anything like in Doubt and Ma Rainey!
