It's been 20 years since Halle Berry became the first black woman to win a Best Actress oscar. She beat out Renee Zellweger, Judi Dench, Nicole Kidman, and Sissy Spacek with her powerful perfomance in "Monster's Ball".

Since her history making win, there have only been six black women nominated for best actress, out of 100 nominations since her win.
