I want to know what happens in X w/o seeing it. My bet is people die and somehow the old people end up wearing one of the young people's faces.

If this somehow ends up being the one a24 movie that ends with the old people going "Hey cool we want to help make a movie!" I'll lol

I honestly loved it, Saw the 2nd screening ever of it in LA and Ti West did a Q and A afterward. Fun non-spoilery facts - all the lighting is of the time period (1979) and they shot on film, using practical effects, prosthetics, animal builds, a whole lotta work went into it. Ti had said he wanted to do a real gritty slasher where you actually care about the characters and I think he achieved it. But also, i could def give you the rundown. It's WILD and you really never knew what was coming next. Also Kid Cudi killed it, as did Brittany Snow and Mia Goth.

Happy Deep Water Eve to all who celebrate! Remember to leave out some Dunkin and your favorite cardboard cutout so BenAna visits overnight and blesses you (or blocks you on Twitter).

"X"sounds like a riff on the joke about how Friday the 13th and a couple of other horror films of the time, loved to kill off people after they'd had sex.
"The Outfit"seems like some Kayzer Soze shit crossed with toned down Guy Ritchie.

Going to see X tonight, hope it's good! Also wanna watch Deep Water, Master and Windfall at some point.

We went to see the Oscar Nominated Live Action shorts last night. I was kinda whelmed by the lot, and am honestly not sure what will win. I guess I liked The Dress and Take and Run the best, but they were all pretty heavy-handed, and none of them knocked me out stylistically, either.

We saw the Animated shorts already (Robin, Robin ftw!), so now my Oscar to-watch list looks like:

- Documentary shorts
- Parallel Mothers
- Writing With Fire
- Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom
and Four Good Days, if I want to be a true completionist (it is nominated for Best Song).

Of course I have to double check, but I am pretty sure that's all I have left!

Other recent watches include A Hard Day's Night (yes, again, lol, but in a theater with a bunch of other people laughing at all the funny bits, which was fantastic <3) and After Yang, which was okay, but not as good as I'd hoped.

So jealous you got to see A Hard Day's Night in a theater, that film is so much fun!

ive seen 4/5 documentary shorts and only audible is any good so i hope it wins. im missing when we were bullies, but if letterboxd is a good indicator that one is probably the worst of the bunch.

very underwhelming shorts group this year.

Brittany Snow looks amazing in this film. She should seriously be a bigger star than she is currently.

She killed it. I hope this will be a turn for her.
